MYSTIC CALENDARS

  1. Much More than Sunrise and Sunset

To many, the calendar is just a table of dates.  To the spiritual, however, it is a table of mystic codes.  For some, every day is like any other day, starting with the sunrise and ending at sunset.  To the spiritual, days are much more than sunrise and sunset; they are spiritual, and dates are more than just numbers.  Even numbers speak.

  1. Numbers Speak

If numbers say nothing, what was the sense or spirituality of the Israelite army being required by God to go around the fortified city of Jericho once every day for six days, and seven times on the seventh day, a total of thirteen times, to fully break down the psychic defences around the city, then gain access to capture it (Joshua 6:2-5), and why was Naaman the leprous nobleman from Syria told to dip seven times in the River Jordan, to completely wash off that curse of leprosy, which a greedily foolish and undiscerning young prophet attracted upon himself and upon his everlasting generations?  Was it meant to be just an exercise, after all (2 Kings 5:14)?  Numbers speak, and some days and dates could be more than just an entry in the diary.

Why was the Pentecost date significant for dispensing the New Testament gift of the Holy Ghost to the first apostles?  Why not a day earlier or later?  Why did Jesus have to die at Passover and not at Pentecost?  Why does Revelation 7:3-5 speak of 12,000 souls sealed from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, and not just some random numbers?  What was the meaning of 70 years of captivity for Israel in Babylon?  Why not any arbitrary number (Daniel 9:2)?  Why 12 tribes and 12 apostles and 12 gates in heaven, and not 13, or 27 (Revelation 21:12)? Numbers and dates speak in the realms of the spirit. They are significant not only to God but also to Satan the imposter.

  1. The Mysteries of Haman’s Date

In the Old Testament story of Esther, we read of a top politician in the kingdom of Persia who hated the Jews terribly.  He earned himself the reprehensible title of “enemy of the Jews” (Esther 9:10).  He was a very spiritual man.  When it came to his pride project of picking a date for his plot to exterminate all Jews from the kingdom, he did not merely check his diary to find a ‘convenient date.’  He consulted the spirit realm for the date.  He called in the astrologers; they cast “pur,” by divination to settle on the most auspicious date in the calendar.  They went about it meticulously, from month to month, and from day to day, to get their pick (Esther 3:13).

Haman began those consultations in the month of Nisan, the first month of the year, the year of the Jews’ exodus from Egypt.  He was going to rewrite their history.  The official letters (or gazette) for their extermination were written or dated the 13th day of the first month, the eve of the Passover, which is usually the 14th day of that month.  Leviticus 23:5 says, “In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S passover.”

As far as Haman was concerned, that month was no longer going to be remembered and celebrated for deliverance from bondage; it was going to be lamented for the blotting out of those whom God brought out of Egypt but could not sustain.  Haman would thus have become stronger than Pharaoh and bigger than God.  He had money, he had political power, he had sorcery, all on his side.

When the news of Haman’s wish for the Jews broke out, nobody could celebrate Happy New Year anymore that year. I wonder if there was any significant Passover ceremony that year.  That wicked man had cast a shadow over the entire year.  Strangely, while everyone else mourned the bad news, that drinker of blood with the bewitched king “sat down to drink” (Esther 3:15).  It is amazing how some people can rejoice at the pains of others; how they manage to clink glasses and make celebrations out of the blood of others!  They shall soon drink their own blood.  Amen.

The dates picked for Adolf Haman’s proposed pogrom were the 13th and 14th days of the 12th month; the full moon of the last month of the year. So, the Jews were going to live languidly through that year, expecting death at the end.  The year was going to end with their blood offered massively under the last full moon of the year, exactly one month before the next Passover.  In other words, as far as Haman and his spirit guides were concerned, there would be Passover no more for the Jews.  He couldn’t have picked such dates by sheer coincidence.  Hamans and Herods still divine for dates today.  They already have dates, against nations, against households, against churches, against individuals.  God also has dates, about which Jesus once lamented over a city and its people:

“If you had known, even you, especially in this YOUR DAY [your date on the divine calendar], the things that make for your peace! But now … days will come upon you when your enemies will … level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, BECAUSE you did not know THE TIME of your visitation” (Luke 19:42-44, NKJV)

  1. Herod had a Date

Haman had a New Testament colleague, whose name was Herod.  H & H.  In Acts 12:4-5, after killing Apostle James, he went ahead to arrest Peter also: “Herod’s intention was to deliver Peter to the Jews for execution after the Passover” (Acts 12:4).  It was an “intention,” not an announcement.  It was a plan, not a notice, like Haman had done.  Satan was being wiser, it seemed.  However, some spiritually sensitive women somehow picked up the signals in the spirit realm, and called a sudden prayer vigil at one of their houses.  They were not the best intercessors; they were not apostles, but there was an emergency, and God was going to answer them, and He did, in strange ways (Acts 12:5, 12-15).

What is it about Passover, that every mass killer picked dates around that season for their plot?  Herod had a date, but God had gone ahead of his mischievous plans.  God sent His angel the night before the plan, and carefully took Peter out.  But an altar had already been promised blood, so blood still had to flow, but not the blood of Peter.  Those who had been conscripted to guard the intended ‘sacrificial lamb’ had to be the first sacrifices upon that altar (Acts 12:19).  But that was not enough.  The altar could not be appeased, because what it had been promised was a big cow, not some mere men, so Herod himself had to go: “the angel of the Lord smote him” (Acts 12:23).  Replacements.  He was not a sweet-smelling sacrifice; he was rotten meat for his rotten altar.  “Down he went. Rotten to the core, a maggoty old man if there ever was one, he died” (Acts 12:23, THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language).  Prayer still cancels wicked dates.  Amen.

  1. A Prayer

Every wicked calendar with your name on it, for death, for an accident, for any disaster, may it catch fire.  May the God who frustrated Haman’s calendar turn the dates around against the plotters and their sorcerers.

O God, raise voices this night.  Send Your angels.  Disappoint the “expectation” of Herod and his bloody fans (Acts 12:11).  May the altars that they have promised our blood drink their own blood.  O Lord, send Your smiting angel again, into palaces – Haman’s and Herod’s.  Save Your own, while the unrelenting wicked drink of their own cup, in Jesus name. Amen.

From The Preacher’s diary,

May 26, 2025.

Today is May 27, Day-3 in our 5-day fast and prayers leading up to May 29, against their calendar of blood. Amen. It is hoped that these posts are a prayer guide. Thanks.
